Picadillo is like a Mexican version of hash. You can serve it with rice or use it as a filling or stuffing for various dishes.
Ingredients
*1 sm. white onion *2 garlic cloves *1 med. Granny Smith apple *1 lb. ground beef *1 C. canned tomato sauce *1/2 C. raisins *1/4 C. toasted almond slivers *1 Tbs. vinegar *1 tsp. granulated sugar *1 tsp. salt *1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon *1/4 tsp. ground cumin *1/8 tsp. ground black pepper
Directions
Peel onion and cut into 1/4-inch pieces. Peel and mince the garlic. Peel and remove the core and stem from the apple; cut apple into 1/4-inch pieces. Place ground beef, onion, and garlic in a medium frying pan. Cook on medium heat until ground beef is browned. Stir in remaining ingredients. Continue cooking on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until all the ingredients are well blended.
