Salsa Steaks PDF Print E-mail

The flavors from these salsa steaks create a fiesta in your mouth. If you prefer a spicier salsa add a pinch of crushed red pepper and 1 Tbs. of Tabasco to the mix.

Ingredients

* 4 cube steaks, 5 oz. each
* 1/4 tsp. salt
* 1/4 tsp. pepper
* 1 Tbs. butter
*SALSA:
* 2 lg. tomatoes, chopped
* 2 Tbs. chopped red onion
* 3 Tbs. chopped green pepper
* 2 Tbs. chopped green chile peppers
* 1/2 tsp. mustard seed
* 1 Tbs. red wine vinegar
* 1 Tbs. chopped cilantro
* 1/2 tsp. salt and pepper
* 2 Tbs. oil
* sour cream
* grated cheese

Directions

Start making the salsa. Combine tomatoes, onion, celery, green pepper, chile peppers, mustard seed, cilantro, vinegar and salt and pepper. Stir in oil. Let stand for a few minutes. In a skillet heat butter. Brown cube steaks in butter on both sides until brown. Reduce heat. Cook uncovered for a few more minutes. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Arrange steaks on serving plate. Spoon a little salsa over each one. Serve remaining salsa on the side. Also serve with sour cream, grated cheese and tortilla chips if desired.
