Almond Molasses Candies PDF Print E-mail

I bet you've never had candies like these before!

Ingredients

*
1 C. light molasses
*1 C. firmly packed brown sugar
*1 tsp. cider vinegar
*2 Tbs. butter
*1/4 tsp. almond extract
*1 1/2 C. toasted, slivered almonds

Directions

Combine molasses, brown sugar, butter, and vinegar into a heavy saucepan.  Bring to a boil.  Boil hard for 7-12 minutes or until mixture reaches 260 degrees on a candy thermometer.  The mixture should form a firm ball when a small amount is dropped into cold water.  Remove from heat. Add almond extract and almonds, then stir well. Pour onto a greased baking sheet. Spread out in as thin a layer as possible. Let cool.  Break into 2-inch pieces and enjoy!
